We are headed into a new month and a start of a new season. This means it’s time to take a minute to update your wardrobe pieces, prep your wardrobe, and make plans for the colder seasons. That’s not to say you have to pull out the credit card and hit up the online sites, just put a little planning and thought toward your current wardrobe. In a nutshell, I’m simply saying a smart wardrobe is an effective wardrobe. Which means play it smart with you’ve got!

Updating Your Wardrobe Pieces simply means putting good use to your current seasonal pieces and layer some pieces from the warmer season too. Pull those sweaters, boots, coats, and scarves out of the back of your closet and make plans to put them in full rotation. This is where you can mix in a few of those summer layering pieces. A perfect example is the page below that came straight from the LOOKBOOK . Another example would be and a long crop top or silk tank under an oversized cardigan, you can even add a scarf or hat too really make a strong statement.

Prep Your Wardrobe Pieces by taking the time to put a little thought and effort behind your daily selections. If you’ve been stuck in the habit of last-minute looks, stop playing yourself! Take an hour or so at the top of each week to pull out a few power pieces and work your daily looks off of them. Don’t forget to take an hour or so at the end of the week to get items cleaned, rehung, and organize new items to keep your closet in order. Use the Power Looks worksheet to help you plan your weekly looks.

Make Plans for the Colder Seasons now that you’ve pulled out last years fall wardrobe. What needs to be replaced? What do you need to add? Perhaps you lost a few pounds, do you have to get any alterations done? What’s trending this season? What do you want to try? These are the questions you ask yourself when you’re planning for the upcoming month and especially each season. This is when you can make plans to experiment and take a few risks.

My goal is to get you walking into the next season and own it every step of the way. Need more? I’m here for you! Check out the style tools to get you started. And remember, it’s your style and your rules on your terms…..werk it hunni….work it!
